Successful Launch of Oxford Education Society in Hong Kong

The Oxford Education Society had a very successful launch of its Hong Kong branch on Monday 2nd April at the offices of the University of Oxford China Office.

There was a full capacity group, with some 30 participants, the maximum number that could be accommodated at the premises of the University of Oxford China Office. The paper by Hubert Ertl was well received, followed by a lively Q&A session. Professor Kerry Kennedy, Dean of Education at the Hong Kong Institute of Education introduced Hubert, and chaired the Q&A session; and Mike Matejtschuk, who is on the OES Management Committee, then spoke about the aims of the OES, plans for future activities and formally launched the society in Hong Kong. The official launch was followed by a reception, which was organized by the University of Oxford China office.

More photos of the event, a copy of Dr Ertl’s presentation and a further report from Mike Matejtschuk can be found here.

We thank the University of Oxford China Office for making their premises available for this event, and for taking care of logistical arrangements at the venue such as organizing name cards, presentation and seating arrangements, and beverages and food for the reception. The Hong Kong institute of Education was pleased to be a partner in organizing this event, and we look forward to our continuing association with the OES.

Professor Rupert Maclean, OES Country Champion and Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning Research and Development, Hong Kong Institute of Education.
