Paris OES meeting April 2016

Sarah Copty, OES Country Champion for France reports on a recent meeting of the OES group there.

It had been quite a long time since the French OES evening out at a Creperie in St Germain en Laye, near Paris…As Country Champion, I felt a bit guilty not having organized much for the last year or so. Members kindly excused me and put the guilt on my wedding organization and my Ofsted-equivalent inspection…both a success!

To redeem myself, I chose the exquisite one Michelin star restaurant « le Camelia » in Bougival, near Paris. Champagne accompanied us throughout our meal, composed of « tourteau », « Saint Jacques », duck and « fondant au chocolat ». All enjoyed the quiet of that place rather than the excitement of a café or a pub.

We shared good practice in our teaching: Peter gave me advice for my forthcoming school inspection. We discussed poetry a lot, and how to engage students creating their own poems. We planned another fine food restaurant when the sun decides to enter the show: « le fruit défendu ».

We can’t wait to gather again and re-create that post-MCR atmosphere…To be continued!

If you would like to join us next time – whether you are living in France or just visiting – contact me (Sarah Copty) for further details. You will find my email address on my profile page
