Olena Boytsun

Olena Boytsun is the Founding president of the International Charity Foundation “Chess for Children” (Kyiv, Ukraine)

International Economist by education (Master, graduated with distinction, 2004, Dnipropetrovsk National University), Olena Boytsun was a Visiting Graduate student at the St’Antonys College, Russian and Eurasian studies Center, in 2006-2007 with the OSI/Chevening research scholarship. The subject of her research was the effects of the financial globalization on economic growth. Olena also completed training for social scientists at the Said Business School.

Olena Boytsun is Woman Chess International Master and International Organizer in chess. The mission of her Foundation “Chess for Children” is to discover the potential of every child through the game of chess and to promote creativity in education. Olena is also a member of the Global Shaper Community, the initiative of the World Economic Forum, and an author at the Publishing House “Folio” in Ukraine with the series of children books about Babish Gilzi and his friends as well as fiction books about modern life in Ukraine and Europe. Olena was awarded the State Award of Olga of the 3rd rank in Ukraine (2013). She is a regular guest on TV and events on the questions of education.

OES Country Champion

As a Country Champion, among others Olena is working on the following tasks:

  • to establish a database of contacts of both Oxford graduates and educational professionals in Ukraine and abroad that can be used for networking and other activities;
  • to initiate a dialog on reforming educational system in Ukraine and to plan educational activities within the country;
  • to promote the values of Oxford Education Society in Ukraine through publicity work.
