Romania OES launch

This event, organized by the Romanian branch of the Oxford Education Society (OES) in partnership with the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences (FPSE) and with the support of British Council Romania, took place on the 3rd September 2015. It was hosted by the University of Bucharest.

Preceding an expert panel consisting of higher education professionals and research and labour market experts, the key-note speech was delivered by Associate Professor Alis Oancea, PhD – Deputy Director for Research, Oxford University Department of Education, University of Oxford, on the topic of Performance-based research assessment and higher education governance.

The event was aimed at launching a more in-depth debate on the mission of the University starting from an understanding of the challenges it faces and attempting to shape the fulcrum which could ensure an equilibrium between research – learning – employability. This was the first EduSeminar of a series of initiatives which will be further developed by the OES’ Romanian branch, whose official launch also took place on this occasion.

‘I would like to thank Professor Oancea, the speakers, our partners and all the participants for accepting the invitation and for their valuable contribution. It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to bring them together through the Oxford Education Society and learn their views on both the UK and Romanian research and higher education systems. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of the OES community – building an international platform for debate on current issues and opportunities in education, and I look forward to the upcoming events’, said Simona Iftimescu, OES Country Champion for Romania.
